Testimonials — be inspired!
“The entire Arise team made us feel very welcome and we were very well supported and integrated. We were allowed to manage our own projects and very free to choose an area of work that we enjoyed. So there was something for everyone and it felt more like leisure than work!”
“I did a weltwärts-year with Arise and got to know wonderful people and gained a lot of valuable experience. I would definitely do a weltwärts-year again, because you learn so much about yourself and your host country.”
“Working at Arise was incredibly enriching for me. I was able to immerse myself in exciting areas of work and gain new intercultural experiences.”
“I have learned how varied and important the tasks behind the scenes of an organisation like Arise are: Coordinating teaching materials, helping to communicate with different stakeholders and, finally, being actively involved in the school.“
”I spent two months as a short-term volunteer at Arise and tried to get involved in building the school. I quickly got to know the markets, the building materials, the food and the local customs.“
“During my 6-week internship at Arise e.V. in Ghana, I was able to gain a lot of great experiences. On the one hand, I was able to gain an insight into the work of an NGO and be a part of the various tasks. It was also great to get to know the teachers and pupils and to become a part of everyday school life. Everyone I met in Ghana, especially the people in the Arise team, were extremely open and welcoming and I felt totally included.”
''Working as a volunteer at Arise for a year has brought me countless learning experiences! With a big goal in mind, we were able to contribute in small steps across numerous areas: from social media and networking to event planning — and so many other aspects that are important behind the scenes of an NGO. The combination of professional work in an inspiring team and creative, diverse projects makes the volunteer experience at Arise simply fantastic!''
"The year I spent working at Arise enriched me in many ways. I gained exciting insights behind the scenes of an NGO, contributed to many projects and met some wonderful people. The diversity of the areas of work in which you can get involved is particularly unique at Arise."
"My time at Arise in Ghana in November and December was a very valuable experience for me. I was welcomed with open arms and was able to get involved right from the start. The collaboration with the staff and the children was characterized by trust and respect. What I appreciated most was the family atmosphere, which made me feel at home right away. The weeks I spent at Arise were very enriching and showed me how much can be achieved when people work together."
"Ten weeks at Arise showed me how much is involved in togetherness. Laughing, listening, and working side by side – I learned so much from the team, the children, and the people in the community, while constantly discovering new things about myself. I really appreciated that Arise is a place where creativity and enjoyment of playing are highly valued."
"During my year at Arise, I gained a lot of great experience, both at work and outside of work. I gained insights into the work of an international association that you cannot get in any other way. The work was very varied throughout the year and allowed me to carry out many different great activities in collaboration with even greater people."

Not necessarily. Of course, you can work with more variety if you are in Ghana, nevertheless you can as well do your volunteer work in Germany or any other country. You would help us a lot with fundraising and our website as well as office work if you stay in another country than Ghana.
The school starts between 8:30am and 9:00am and ends at 2:30-3:00pm. You can either work at the school or work in the office, the office work times are from 9:00am to 5:00pm with a one-hour break. We will decide together, how many days you will work in the school and in the office; as an example: our current volunteers are working 4 days in the school and 1 day in the office.
