Philosophy

Arise e.V subscribes to the educational philosophy of practice that fosters rigorous, self-motivated growth for children in all areas of their development, with a goal of nurturing each child’s natural desire for knowledge, understanding, and respect.

That means that we at Arise try to encourage their will for learning and their strive to gain new abilities, meaning we want to create effective teaching approaches that advance personalized learning.

We believe that every child has a right to excellent education without discrimination.

Every child should be provided with a clean and safe learning environment, meaning we make sure that every student feels welcome in class and enters an organized and clean classroom. That is being done through rules and routines which include e.g. no laughing at each other and showing the students learning is done through making mistakes.

In addition to this, we teach every child through fun activities and engage the curiosity of the students in order to make sure they are willing to learn and gain the awareness that knowledge is something worth achieving. The aim is to be a role model for other schools to show how education can support children in being independent, creative and self-confident human beings.

History

Arise e.V. is a non-profit association that runs a school in Kokrobite, Ghana. It was founded by a German national.

She came to Ghana to widen her horizon in order to be able to understand the world as a global and diverse place. She particularly chose the country Ghana, because she has always thought that West Africa is a very inspiring, strong and colourful part of the world.

Annelie lived around Tuba and noticed that many children didn’t have the opportunity to go to school. Therefore, she decided to participate in a school building project in order to provide an opportunity for these kids.

The school was founded in 2014 with 15 children in Tuba, under the name Arise Educational Foundation e.V. The numbers gradually grew to our current 74 students in 2023. These students initially weren’t enrolled in school, as their parents are unable to afford. In addition to the education, we as well provide our students with hot freshly cooked meals.
